Proper exercise shoes are very important to whatever type of exercise or sport your enjoy. Make a healthy choice and invest in good quality shoes. You feet, knees, and low back will thank you!
All shoes should have 2 features in common: adequate toe room and a snug heel.
You should be able to answer “YES” to the questions below, if not then you need to seek proper counseling from an expert, such as a Podiatrist.
Running Shoes:
Does the heel have a stabilizer or reinforcement in the heel counter?
Is this firm arch support? (Not necessarily high arch support)
Is there enough cushioning in the heel and forefoot?
Is the sole flexible at the toes only?
Walking Shoes:
Is the heel well cushioned?
Is there firm arch support?
Is the sole flexible and has a steep toe spring angle (see arrow)?
Cycling Shoes:
Are the uppers made of breathable material?
Are the soles made of firm non-slip material?
Are the cleats properly placed for gripping the bike pedal?
Aerobic shoes:

Is the sole well cushioned?
Is the forefoot flexible?
If you need ankle support, is the shoe a mid-top or hi-top?
